Looking Ahead

As 2020 draws to a close, it’s time for a little clean-up here and reorganizing.

For the first time in almost a decade, I actually finished Zero freight cars.  I have 5 that are close, but shipping of materials and finding of materials has been slow, so those will move to 2021’s “to finish” list.  I did manage to reconstruct the demonstration layout, using some new materials, and made a good dent in that.  Come Spring of 2021, that will get finished as the weather warms enough for some of the messy stuff that still needs to be done to get done in a proper location (though I might work on it over the winter if I protect the inside of the house well enough).

I have built to operational a small HO switching layout that will likely become an eventual “Cameo” with 3 spurs and a couple of engines.  That has been fun.  There is more work to be done there.

The events of 2020 caused me to throw out many plans for the year, but with the world looking ahead to the end of some incredibly dark months of isolation, I find myself turning toward planning for 2021.  I’m not going to even look back at what I had planned to do in 2020.  For many of us the year was just a throwaway.

So, my goals for 2021:

  1. Finish 5 nearly completed freight cars by April.
  2. Finish 2 started cabooses by July
  3. Finish the HO switching layout in 2021.
  4. Finish the 3’x18” P48 layout by June
  5. Build 3 additional Proto48 freight cars in 2021, for a total completion of 8 cars.

As of this posting, you’ll likely notice that some articles have changed location.  I’m adding some new tags to past posts, cleaning up, and may try out some new look for the overall page in the new year.  It feels like it’s time for a refresh.

It’s time, most definitely, to get back to the workbench.
